How to Use a Pocket Drill

    • 1). Adjust the clutch around the chuck to the appropriate setting 1 through 10. The drill bit picture is for heavy-duty work. The lower gears provide more torque and the higher gears higher RPMs.

    • 2). Pull forward on the locking sleeve, which is the release on the chuck where the bits fit. Insert any 1/4-inch hexagonal bit into the chuck and let go of the locking sleeve. It slides back into place on its own.

    • 3). Slide the lever on the left side of the drill above your thumb, if you are right-handed, all the way forward to rotate the bit clockwise, or to drive a screw forward.

    • 4). Apply the bit to the drilling surface or the head of the screw and depress the trigger, pressing the drill into the surface until the hole is finished or the screw head is level with the surface. To rotate the bit faster, push the trigger down harder. The work light under the head of the drill lights up automatically for better visibility on your work surface.

    • 5). Slide the lever above your thumb all the way back and apply the bit to the screw to remove it from the wood. Lock the trigger by sliding the lever above your thumb to the center position.

    • 6). Push down on the tabs on either side of the butt of the drill to release the battery. Orient the battery upside down so the back of where it sits on the drill faces the front of the battery pack and slide it into the pack. The blinking green light shows it charging. The battery fast-charges in 30 minutes. When the green light goes solid, the pack is charged.
