Toilet Training Dogs - Is Your Dog Toilet Trained?
Anyone who would like to own a dog does not want to be faced every time they come home with having to clear up any toilet mess they have made.
So of course to prevent such problems arising owners of these animals must be willing to dedicate time and effort to toilet training dogs.
So what things must be done initially before you actually start teaching your dog to go to the toilet in areas that are acceptable? Below we take a look at what these things are and reasons for doing them.
1.
Create An Area Where They Can Go To The Toilet You should choose one area specifically for where your pet will be able to go to the toilet before you actually bring them home.
The best way of doing this is to look at your garden and choose a spot that is in say a corner where your dog can go to the toilet comfortably.
Also make sure that it is in an area that if you have children they will not play in.
But be aware sometimes dogs may prefer to select the area.
This is because some dogs will prefer to go to the toilet on grass whilst others prefer dirt.
If you know this in advance then of course you can choose the perfect place for them to use.
2.
Establish An Area That Will Become Their Living Quarters By creating a living area for your pet will help to ensure that they do not go to toilet in this area as they do not like to.
So of course if your pet will be in the house then you need to show them that this is their living area as well.
There are a couple of ways that this can be done.
You can either move the crate in which they will use as their living quarters from one room to another.
The other thing to do is to move their toys and bedding from one room to another.
But do not rush this part of the process for toilet training dogs.
