How to Change the Front Axle on a 1995 Honda Accord
- 1). Break the lug nuts loose on the front wheels where there is a bad axle. Turn the lug nuts 30 degrees counterclockwise with a tire wrench to break them loose. Don't unseat the wheel from the wheel hub, however. Engage the emergency brake.
- 2). Jack up the Accord using the front jack points. Then, place jack stands underneath the pinch welds under the front doors. Lower the Accord onto the jack stands.
- 3). Finish loosening the lug nuts and slide the wheel off the hub. Remove the spindle nut in the center of the hub with an impact wrench.
- 4). Unbolt the upper and lower caliper mounting bolts, slide the caliper off the rotor, and tie the caliper to the upper control arm with zip-ties. Pull the brake rotor off the hub.
- 5). Pull the cotter pin from the drive shaft nut with pliers. Unbolt the driveshaft nut.
- 6). Remove the tie rod end bolts and rotate the knuckle and wheel hub assembly up while you pull the axle out of the hub. Pull the front axle out of the transaxle.
- 7). Install a new axle. Installation is the reverse of removal.
