How to Make Arched Windows Appear Taller
- 1). Measure the width of the arched windows, and write down this measurement. Purchase a window swag that is as wide as each window and as high as you want.
- 2). Lay the swag flat on your work surface and measure its height. Place a stepstool in front of one of your arched windows, and mark that height with a piece of chalk above the top center of the window.
- 3). Determine how far down you want the swag to hang over the top of the window. An inch or two is usually best, as you don't want to cover the shape of the window. Mark this spot with your piece of chalk beneath the first chalk mark. Erase the first chalk mark.
- 4). Drill your curtain rod brackets in place, making sure they're in line with your chalk mark. Thread your swag through your curtain rods, and place it on the brackets. The swag will hang slightly over the top of the arched window but mostly above it, drawing the eye upward and creating an illusion of height.
