How to Change My Photo's Name

23

Method 1 (Windows and Mac computers)

    • 1). Open the Pictures folder or directory on your computer's drive. If the picture that you want to rename is located in a different folder on the drive, find and open that folder so you can see the pictures and any other files it contains.

    • 2). Click once on the picture file you want to rename. This will select the file and highlight it. Then click again on its name. This will highlight the text and allow you to type a new name.

    • 3). Type the new name for the picture. If you can see the file extension, a period followed by three or four letters, in the photo's name line, leave the file extension intact. Type the new name before the period. For example, a photo named "IMG_500.jpg" should become "newname.jpg" when you type the photo's new name.

    • 4). When you've finished typing the new name, click on an area of the screen away from the photograph. That will save the change. You can also press "Enter" on a Windows computer or "Return" on a Mac to save the new name.

    Method 2 (Windows computers)

    • 1). On a Windows computer, open the directory containing your photo as you did in the first method.

    • 2). Right click on the picture you want to rename and select "Rename" from the drop-down menu that appears. This will highlight the current title.

    • 3). Type in the new name for the picture. As in Method 1, don't change the file extension.

    • 4). Click on an area away from the picture or hit "Enter" to save the new name.
