How to Make Flowerpots Out of Coffee Cans for a Cemetery
- 1). Contact the cemetery and find out their rules for leaving flowerpots at the gravesite. Ask if you will need to pick up the container within a certain length of time or if there is a caretaker who will pick it up for you.
- 2). Remove the label from a coffee can, if it has one.
- 3). Wash the coffee can and dry it completely.
- 4). Tip the can over and use a hammer and nails to pierce four to five holes into the bottom of the can for drainage.
- 5). Paint the exterior of the can with spray paint. Apply a second coat if needed. Allow the can to dry completely.
- 6). Decorate the can with fabric, stencils and embellishments.
- 7). Add a single layer of pebbles or rocks inside the coffee can.
- 8). Fill a third of the coffee can with potting soil.
- 9). Add the plant to the container and fill in the gaps with potting soil until the planter is full to the rim.
- 10
Water the plant so that the soil settles around the plant. Add more soil if needed.
