The Siemens Sirius 32 is an engine control unit, or ECU, used by several automobile manufacturers. Engine control units are modules composed of a microcomputer and an inspection lamp, plus connectors to the engine temperature sensor, the throttle sensor, the air flow meter and other engine sensors. The ECU reads these sensors, applies diagnostics procedures and controls the engine's operation if safety parameters are exceeded, much like a breaker in an electric installation. - The Siemens Sirius 32 has a rated current of 32 amps.
- The Siemens Sirius 32 is set to break within a range of thermal overload release between 22 and 32 amps. When the temperature of the connector increases, so does its conductivity, triggering the breaker and cutting off the engine.
- The Sirius 32 ECU is designed to break with an instantaneous short-circuit release of 384 amps and a short-circuit breaking capacity at 400 volts of 40 kiloamps.
- The Siemens Sirius 32 is used on some Renault, Dacia and Volvo gasoline engines, such as the Dacia Logan 1.4 8V, the Dacia Solenza 1.4 8V, the Renault Twingo 1.2 8V, the Renault Clio 2.0 16V and the Renault Megane Scenic 1.8 16V.
