Mega Bloks Probuilder Army Toys
If you've ever tried to find army Legos you will have found that Lego do not really produce warfare sets like tanks, battleships and aircraft as these are a little too close to reality rather than the world of fantasy that Lego prefer children to play in.
If you hunt around you can find the odd army styled set such as the Toy Story Army Men on Patrol or a few army type vehicles in the Lego Creator range, but other than that you are stuck with your imagination and a big pile of building blocks.
Mega Bloks on the other hand, do have a range of army vehicles that you can build in their Probuilder series.
These kits are much like Lego in that similarly styled building blocks are assembled via detailed instructions to form a vehicle such as an aircraft carrier or a fighter jet.
Being 'Probuilder' kits these Lego type sets are quite advanced.
As such they are most suitable for children of 7 years of age and upwards.
The sets are typically large - the smallest having 224 bricks with the largest having 2450.
They also make quite large scale models - the USS Nimitz for example being a huge 36" in length once assembled.
These sets are well liked.
The instructions are easy to follow and there are always spare pieces should you lose a few.
Many collectors who want to keep the models permanently made up, will glue each piece into place as they go but for kids who may want to build, demolish and rebuild the vehicles, there is no need.
Completed models are well designed and the attention to detail is very good.
Some of the best selling models include the following: Navy Destroyer - this battleship set has 545 pieces that when built makes an impressive ship complete with command tower and loading deck as well as a figurine and working missiles.
The pieces are also sufficient to make two smaller vessels instead of the main ship if you fancy a change once built.
USS Nimitz - this is a huge set that is hugely popular.
With over 1400 pieces you can recreate this US aircraft carrier along with its many interesting features.
Such detail includes moving aircraft elevators and eight F-14 jets to use in your role play.
As mentioned above this makes a very large model ship measuring 36" once built.
The only trouble is, that this set is no longer made so if interested, you'll have to hunt one down on a marketplace or auction site.
