How to Remove Bloatware from Windows

14

Instructions

Get Started

1

Download and install the two applications (See Resources below for the download links).
2

Visit the CCleaner home page and download the application. Install the downloaded program, making sure not to download the Yahoo toolbar (unless you want it).
3

Download "Autoruns" application and install it to a new file in your Program Files folder.

Run the CCleaner program

1

Launch the CCleaner program. Click on the "Tools" icon on the left of your screen. This brings up a list of the programs that are installed on your computer.
2

Select the programs that you would like to remove. Programs by companies like Dell, HP, VAIO and Kodak are often pre-installed trial versions. Delete all the bloatware unless you plan on taking advantage of the trial or purchasing the full version.
3

Reboot your computer once you have deleted all the programs you do not need.
4

Open CCleaner once more and click on "Cleaner." The application will now clean up all the registry entries of the programs that you have just uninstalled. It also cleans up all references to these deleted programs. Close CCLeaner.

Run Autoruns

1

Launch Autoruns. Click on "Options" and then click on "Hide Microsoft Entries."
2

Tap F5 on your keyboard.
3

De-select all the entries that you don’t want to start up with each system boot. Reboot your computer.
