How to Remove the Drop Side From a Simmons Crib
- 1). Remove bedding from the crib to ensure it does not become dirty when you are working with tools from the garage or tool shed.
- 2). Starting at the front side of the crib, identify the hexagon-shaped head bolts on top of one of the corner posts. Loosen the bolt with a wrench. On some models, this piece will be a screw instead of a bolt.
- 3). Grasp the vertical metal rod that runs parallel to the corner posts and legs of the crib and pull upwards. The rod should pull through the holes on the drop-side rail. Most models have springs loaded on the metal rod. Allow these springs to simply fall away while you are pulling out the rod.
- 4). Move to the foot of the crib and repeat the process. When you pull the metal rod out of the hole, the drop-side rail will no longer be attached to the crib. Remove any extra hardware on the front and foot of the crib so bedding or stuffed animals do not get snagged.
