How to Clean a Cedar Tree

31
    • 1). Prune the tree with pruners to remove any dead branches from the tree, which will improve appearance and prevent rotting. Use a ladder to reach the taller sections.

    • 2). Lay a tarp down around the base of the tree to prevent moisture from soaking into the dirt. This keeps the roots from getting overwatered during the cleaning process.

    • 3). Rinse the tree using a garden hose to remove dirt, dust and debris that has accumulated in the tree.

    • 4). Apply either a mild dish soap or a waterless hand sanitizer to a rag. This helps remove any heavy sap deposits from the tree without damaging the bark or harming the tree.

    • 5). Rub the rag against specific sap spots on the cedar tree to scrub the sap away.

    • 6). Rinse sap areas to remove more of the sap, as well as any soap residue. Use a scraper on any sap deposits on the bark that are harder to remove.

    • 7). Apply an anti-mold or fungal agent to the cedar tree if those elements are damaging the tree. Follow all instructions on the package to prevent damaging the tree.
