How to Repair Engineered Hardwood Floors
- 1). Fold your fine sandpaper so there’s a sharp corner to it. Use the corner to lightly sand out the inside of each gouge, hole or other damaged area of the engineered floor surface. Wipe off the dust with a tackcloth.
- 2). Scoop up enough wax putty to fill the first gouge or hole, using the plastic putty knife. Press the putty into it, packing it tightly so it mounds over the top.
- 3). Run the flat front edge of the knife through the mound forward, "cutting" off the excess wax from the top and leaving the wax in the hole flat and even.
- 4). Buff the surface of the floor with a cotton cloth, blending the wax with the surrounding area. Let it set up for 48 hours before walking on it.
