What Kind Of Toys Do Kids Like?

14
Playing with toys may be kids stuff but you can never underestimate its power to stimulate your child's creativity.
There are playthings that can contribute to the development of a child's mind.
These are educational toys and some of its most popular forms are Scrabble, Bugle, and other puzzle-type games.
Most parents favor these types of playthings for their kids.
However, if you will ask most kids on the type of playthings they tend to favor most, you will get different answers.
Most kids would favor toy guns, tanks, video games, and other stuff that conservative parents may deem too violent for their tastes.
Instead of timid and living room-based playthings, children opt for toys that would suit their hyperactive tendencies.
The craze for character toys that seem to promote violent tendencies among children became a pressing concern for most parents.
As if toy guns and other violence-inducing stuff are not enough, the 90s were greeted by the boom of graphic and violent video games.
Despite protests from parents, companies did little to tone down the violent content of their toy and game products.
In the advent of Internet games, we have witnessed the second-coming of more violent RPG or role playing games that looks even more realistic than its low-tech counterparts.
Okay, parents may protest what they like but are toys really to blame for the behavior of their kids? Well, this is not an article aimed to make a moral debate about the issue.
The point is: kids will like what they tend to like.
Of course, marketing campaigns play a significant role in shaping their preferences but, is it not the role of parents to guide their children no matter what? It's pretty obvious that kids love toys that empower them, as some research shows.
Children do not appreciate it when adults treat them as puny creatures.
In reaction to this, they seek solace from toys that would make them escape, albeit temporarily, to the limitations of childhood.
And yes, violent video games, violence-hinting action figures, and all-too real toy guns would help them do that.
So, why do kids love these types of toys? Simple.
These playthings are not boring as say throwing dice in the floor with their grandmother.
The whole point of this piece is to suggest that educational games should not be that humdrum.
If some genius could find a way to combine fun and value minus the violent elements in a new line of toys, then everybody will be happy.
