Many motor vehicles are equipped with DVD systems, especially in the back of the vehicle. This helps entertain passengers over long road trips. The system that plays the DVD, however, may run into some problems while on the road. Although the DVD system is like a typical DVD system, passengers or the driver may have to fix the DVD system in a unique fashion. - Make sure that the DVD is not a DVD-R disc. Most auto DVD players cannot play DVD-R discs. Also, American-based DVD systems do not play non-American DVDs.
- Check the DVD disc first. Many issues with DVD systems fail mainly because the DVD disc may be scratched or broken. Also, make sure you are putting in the disc the right way. You should also look into the DVD player. See if there any large dust deposits within the DVD reader.
- Sometimes the car's DVD player system needs to be reset. A passenger should try to find the outlet wire that connects the DVD to the automobile's wiring system. The plug for the DVD system could be plugged into the ground perpendicular to the television set or be attached to some internal wiring on the roof of the car. Unplug the DVD system from this plug and re-plug it after a few seconds.
- DVDs have developed over the years to the point where older DVD players may not recognize the disc. DVD menus and features may be unable to read on an automobile's DVD system. You need to make sure your car's DVD system is up to date with aspects such as firmware. You will have to contact the DVD system manufacturer about such an update.
