How to Upload Word Press Widgets
- 1). Download the widget that you want to install, and save the resulting ZIP file to your desktop. You do not need to extract the ZIP archive to install it on your website.
- 2). Open a new browser window or tab, and navigate to the dashboard page for your WordPress website by typing the domain name and adding "/wp-admin" to the end, such as "www.mywebsite.com/wp-admin." Enter the user name "admin" and your WordPress password to display the dashboard.
- 3). Click the "Plugins" heading on the left menu, then click "Add New."
- 4). Click the "Upload" link at the top of the page.
- 5). Click the "Choose File" button. Locate the widget on your computer that you want to install, and double-click it.
- 6). Click the "Install Now" button to upload the widget to WordPress, and install it. Click "Activate Plugin" to activate the widget -- note that the widget will not actually be displayed to visitors until you place it in your website's sidebar.
- 7). Click the "Appearance" heading on the left menu, and click "Widgets." You should see the name of the new widget you have installed on the list in the center area of the page.
- 8). Drag the widget to the sidebar area on the right side of the page, and use the menus displayed to configure it.
