The Bottom Line
In 2003, Christianity Today named Poor Man's Riches as one of the Ten Independent Artists You Should Know and they were on the money. It's taken two years for PMR to release on a label, but after hearing Energy, I can honestly say that it's been well worth the wait.

Guide Review - Poor Man's Riches - 'Energy'
The album cover is the first thing that got my attention and I had high expectations for this CD. I popped the disc in, turned the volume up, closed my eyes and was prepared to be rocked. And I was ... for about the first 30 seconds ... and then ... well - nothing! I opened my eyes in time to see my husband and teenage son scooting around the corner with the CD. It appeared that this release was going to get the "family treatment." Through the entire CD the commentary from the peanut gallery was peppered with remarks such as "Oh yeah!," "You can't kill rock!" and "Did you hear that? That's just sick!" (sick being a good thing around here).
The opening track, "Energy" sets the pace for the entire CD and in a word .... ROCKS! Following up with another stand-out tune, “Break Me”, the CD continues to hold your attention with serious rock and roll and powerful lyrics. For those who like to slow it down a bit, there are a couple of power-ballads in there that are extremely well done as well.
In all honesty, there was only one song out of 10 that we all agreed just wasn't doing it for us. But 9 out of 10 absolute winners in hardly anything to sneeze at. If you like rock, you owe it to yourself to give this CD a try.
