How to Repair a Power Window Switch in a Dodge Durango
- 1). Disconnect the truck's negative battery cable at the terminal, loosening the clamp's nut with your wrench.
- 2). Pry out the power switch control from the inner door armrest using a trim stick and disconnect the electrical connector in the rear. Skip to Step 8 if this is all you need to replace.
- 3). Remove the screws for the door's inner trim panel if you need to get to the switch's wiring --- the Durango's screws are usually behind the door handle, behind the pull handle, up near the mirror and along the bottom edge.
- 4). Pull the panel up and off its clips to remove it, then peel back the plastic water shield.
- 5). Disconnect the wiring electrical connector from the regulator's motor and feed the wiring out the door.
- 6). Connect the electrical connector for the new wiring to the window regulator motor and feed it up toward the position of the control switch.
- 7). Press the water shield into position with its own adhesive and reconnect the inner trim panel with its clips and screws.
- 8). Connect the wiring to the window switch plate (old or new) and insert the switch controls in position on the trim panel --- usually above the pull handle and to the side of the main handle.
- 9). Reconnect the battery cable.
