How to Fix Windows XP Using Safe Mode Boot
- 1). Restart your computer if it's on, or turn it on if it's off.
- 2). Press the "F8" key repeatedly as your computer boots until the boot menu appears on your screen. If the welcome screen or desktop appears instead of the boot menu, restart your computer and try pressing the "F8" key again.
- 3). Select "Safe Mode" in the boot menu using the arrow keys and press "Enter." If you have multiple operating systems installed, select "Windows XP" in the menu that appears after selecting safe mode and press "Enter."
- 4). Click "Start" when the safe mode desktop appears, point to "All Programs," point to "Accessories," point to "System Tools" and select "System Restore."
- 5). Click "Restore My Computer to an Earlier Time" in the System Restore window and click "Next."
- 6). Select a system restore point from a date and time when your computer was working properly by clicking the date on the calendar and clicking the time the system restore point was created by Windows, then click "Next."
- 7). Log in to your computer after Windows automatically restores your computer and restarts it, and click the "Finish" button.
