How to Use Luster Dust With a Mold
- 1). Clean the mold and dry it with a paper towel. The mold must be completely dry when you apply the luster dust.
- 2). Dip a paint brush in the container of luster dust. The best size of paint brush depends on the type of mold and how intricate it is. A mold with sharp, detailed curves and crevices requires a very thin brush, while a plain round mold, such as a basic truffle mold, requires a thicker brush or cotton swab.
- 3). Brush the luster dust on the inside surface of the mold in a light, even layer. Start at the bottom center of the mold and gradually work out to the edges.
- 4). Fill the mold slowly with the chocolate or candy mix once the surface is coated with luster dust. Allow the chocolate or candy to set until it's ready to be removed.
- 5). Examine the chocolate or candy once it's removed and cooled down to room temperature. Touch up any bare spots with more luster dust if necessary. Depending on the mold, it may be inevitable for some of the luster dust to shift when the chocolate or candy mixture is poured in.
