How to Upgrade From Windows 98 to 2000 or XP
- 1). Purchase the Windows 2000 operating system installation discs (see Resources). The installation discs are no longer available for order through Microsoft.
- 2). Insert the Microsoft Windows 2000 installation disc into your CD-ROM drive.
- 3). Restart your Microsoft Windows 98 machine with the installation CD still inside the CD-ROM drive. Press any key on your keyboard to boot from the installation CD.
- 4). Press the "Enter" key to begin installing Microsoft Windows 2000. Press the "F8" key to agree to the product licensing terms after you have read over them.
- 5). Press the "Enter" key to upgrade to Windows 2000.
- 1). Purchase the Windows XP operating system installation discs (see Resources). The installation discs are no longer available for order through Microsoft.
- 2). Insert the Windows XP installation disc into your CD-ROM drive to open the Windows XP Setup Wizard.
- 3). Click on the "Upgrade" button in the Installation Type window of the Windows XP Setup Wizard. Click on the "Next" button.
- 4). Follow the instructions and prompts presented by the Windows XP Setup Wizard to finish the automatic installation of Windows XP.
