Removing the old faucet

• When replacing the faucet make sure that the water is turned off and that the area around the sink is clean and clutter-free. Make sure that you have access to the water supply lines and can turn off the water before removing any lines or hoses. You will need a basin wrench, 1/2 inch open-ended wrench, and a cloth to clean up any spills or water that may leak from the water lines. The removal is only three simple steps; turn off the water, remove the nut that secures the faucet to the counter, and disconnect the water supply lines. Moen faucets install in one of two ways. A basin nut under the counter or a retaining ring on top of the counter. Most Moen faucets use the basin nut to secure the faucet to the counter.
  
  

Installing the new faucet

• Be sure that you have all the materials you need before you begin the installation process. The installation is as simple as the removal. Make sure that you have a clean surface to begin the installation process. Installing a new faucet on dirty counter tops can cause mold, mildew, or other bacteria to form and cause more problems. Drop the new faucet through the inlet hole in the counter top. Once it's in place, connecting the supply hoses can be done by hand and tightened with a 1/2 inch open-ended wrench. With all the lines attached you can turn on the water supply and test the new faucet. Moen is known for excellent craftsmanship and ease of use.
  
  

Sealant

• Applying sealant to the counter top can help protect against leakage. Silicone caulk and RTV sealant can be used to seal the faucet to the counter top. Sealants help protect against mold, mildew, and bacteria from forming underneath the faucet base and around the sink.
