How to Dress Wine Bottles in Clothes

14

    Start with Clothing

    • 1). Purchase wine bottle clothing for the easiest way to dress up wine bottles. Slip wine bottle dresses over the top of the bottle. Wrap other types of wine bottle clothes around the front of the bottle and tie or otherwise fasten in the back.

    • 2). Gather baby doll clothes; some doll clothing looks good on wine bottles. The only way to tell for certain is to try. Slip a doll dress over the wine bottle. For clothes that are a little too big, tie a ribbon around the waist to hold the dress in place.

    • 3). Thread a pipe cleaner through the arms of the clothing to hold the arms in place. With a needle and thread, stitch the pipe cleaner to the clothing in the middle of the back. This will prevent the pipe cleaner and arms from sagging.

    • 4). Either clip the pipe cleaner at the cuffs of the sleeves, or let the pipe cleaner stick out. Fold a half-inch of pipe cleaner back on the end of each "arm" to make little hands. Pose however you wish.

    • 5). Use scissors to remove the crotch from doll clothing pants. Cut the inseams open. Place the pants on the lower half of the wine bottle. Trim the bottom of the pants so they do not hang below the wine bottle.

    Start from Scratch

    • 1). Knit a very small "hat" with yarn left over from other projects. Pull this over the top of the wine bottle.

    • 2). Gather remnants of fabric left over from other projects. Choose a light-colored square piece that will fit around the body of the bottle. To the front, sew or hot glue three buttons down the middle. Wrap the fabric around the bottle and hot glue it closed on the back.

    • 3). Choose a dark-colored piece of fabric that is large enough to wrap around the bottle like a cape. Cut this piece into a trapezoid shape. The top should just reach around the bottle. Place a dab of hot glue on the corners of the cape at the bottle's "neck". The buttons will show through the opening in the cape.
