How to Sew Chair Pads
- 1). Measure the dimensions of the seat that the chair pads will go on top of. Measure the height and width of the basic seat of the chair.
- 2). Fold a piece of fabric in half width-wise so you have a double layer of fabric. Cut out a square the height and width of the measurements you took, adding an extra 1/8 inch for seam allowance. You should now have two identical square pieces of fabric.
- 3). Sew the two squares together on the sewing machine. Run a stitch along all four lines of the two pieces, leaving a 1-inch opening on one side. Turn the piece inside out so the rough edges are now on the inside and the smooth edges are on the outside.
- 4). Fill the chair pad with cotton stuffing, which can be purchased at most fabric stores. Stuff the pad using the 1-inch opening. When the chair pad is full, stitch the hole closed.
- 5). Cut two 6-inch pieces of ribbon. Fold each piece of ribbon in half, and sew the folded crease of one ribbon to the top left corner of the chair pad. Sew the folded crease of the second ribbon to the top right corner of the chair pad. These act as straps that can be tied on to the back seat of the chair, securing the chair pad in place.
