How to Troubleshoot Front Side Marker Lights
- 1). Open the hood of your vehicle and disconnect the battery's negative cable with a socket wrench.
- 2). Open the fuse box in the engine compartment and locate the side marker fuse. If you are unsure of which fuse is the side marker fuse, consult your vehicle's owner's manual.
- 3). Pull the fuse out of the box with a fuse extractor and replace it with an identical fuse. Again, if you are unsure of the type of fuse, consult your manual.
- 4). Close the fuse box and locate the side marker bulb assembly. Many vehicles have the side marker bulbs contained within the headlight assembly. Others have a separate side marker assembly underneath the headlamp assembly.
- 5). Remove any seals or covers from the assemblies to access the bulbs. Disconnect the electrical wiring connector of the side marker bulb by pulling it off.
- 6). Pull the burnt-out bulb out of the assembly and use a clean cloth to install the replacement bulb. Reattach the wiring connector and any covers or seals.
- 7). Reattach the negative battery cable and close the hood.
