The Best Places to Live in Orlando
- Dubbed one of the "Top Ten Best Places to Live" by Money Magazine, Lake Mary is regarded as one of Orlando's most desirable suburbs. Located just minutes from downtown Orlando, Lake Mary lies north of the city, making it easy to avoid the slew of tourists that take over areas to the south of the city throughout the year. There are also several major companies based in Lake Mary, including Convergys, Mitsubishi Power Systems and AAA's World Headquarters.
- Another Orlando neighborhood that has received attention as a great place to live is Oviedo. Northeast of downtown Orlando, Oviedo is closer to the city center than Lake Mary and just a few miles from the University of Central Florida's main campus. Recognized as one of the best places to live in the United States by Relocate America, Oviedo was touted for its proximity to the city, its shopping and recreation options, employment options in the area and its school system.
- While Lake Mary and Oviedo may be the most highly praised Orlando neighborhoods by national publications, there are other neighborhoods in town that have won over area residents. Winter Park is a neighborhood that is very near downtown Orlando. This highly self-contained neighborhood offers clean streets with shopping, restaurants, movie theaters and grocery stores. The Mead Botanical Gardens are located in the Winter Park neighborhood. Windermere and Baldwin Park are also popular Orlando neighborhoods, with many of the same features as Winter Park, though all of these areas have more expensive rent prices than much of the rest of the city.
If you are looking for a truly out of the ordinary place to live and easy access to Disney's theme parks, Celebration, Florida may be the place for you. Developed by the Walt Disney Co., Celebration has a road that leads directly to the Disney theme parks. Celebration is south of downtown Orlando.
