How to Troubleshoot A/C Chillers

9
    • 1). Make sure the chiller is connected to a working power source and the power source is switched on. Ensure there are no loose connections which are causing power drop-offs. Reset the relevant circuit breaker, if necessary.

    • 2). Add refrigerant to your chiller unit if the expansion valve starts to hiss during the chiller's cycle.

    • 3). Inspect the base of the chiller for any leaks which may be present. If there is fluid escaping, it indicates broken seals, which must be replaced before you can use the machine again.

    • 4). Contrast the temperature of the room against the temperature of the thermostat. If the room is already colder than the temperature of the thermostat then, depending on the model you have, the chiller may simply cut off -- this can often be mistaken for a problem with the unit.

    • 5). Inspect the pipes for any rattling or odd vibrations during normal use. Badly fitting and loose pipes rattle and vibrate during a cycle and you should have them replaced by an expert as soon as possible.
