How to Locate the Transmission Stick on a Jetta
- 1). Take your Jetta for a short drive to warm up the transmission fluid.
- 2). Crawl underneath your Jetta and locate the transmission, which is at front center below and slightly behind the engine. Remove the splashguard with a Torx socket, T-25 and T-30 bolts to gain access to the inspection plug.
- 3). Find the inspection plug on the bottom of the transmission. Use a 14 mm hex socket to open the inspection plug. If there is a slow drip of fluid when you remove the plug, that means the transmission is at the correct level. If no fluid comes out, add fluid.
