Big Toe Gout Home Remedies
- One method is to soak your foot in a bathtub with hot water and 1/3 of a cup of ground ginger. As you sweat because of the hot water, the ginger will encourage the uric acid to leave the toes. If you soak your toes for about 30 minutes, much of the uric acid will be extracted or drawn out from the body and the pain will be relieved. Wash your foot carefully to remove all traces of ginger, which can cause skin irritation if left on the foot too long.
- Mix two cups of Epsom salt into a tub or bucket full of warm water. Soak your feet in the Epsom salt bath for approximately 30 minutes or until the water gets cool. While the ginger bath helps relieve pain in the toes and foot in general, Natural Home Remedies specifically lists an Epsom salt bath as a remedy for pain concentrated in the big toe.
- Mix one cup of vinegar with 1 cup of water and 1 tsp. of pepper and bring the mixture to a boil. Use a cloth or cotton to dab the picture on to the big toe. Wrap the toe with the mixture applied (use a bandage if necessary to hold the cotton or cloth on the toe) and leave on for two to three hours.
