  Walking through the streets of Sonoma, California brings visitors into the heart of wine country. Spend the day kayaking on the coastline or bike through the magnificent redwoods of northern California. Wine tasting can be done at many of the boutique wineries in the area. • The Lodge at Sonoma Renaissance is just an hour north of San Francisco and is situated in the middle of wine country. The spa tempts everyone who stays there to be pampered, and guests can indulge in the fine local wines provided by the hotel. Each of the rooms have wireless Internet service, expanded cable television and bathrobes, and some of the rooms have private balconies and fireplaces. Pets are allowed for a nonrefundable deposit, but contact the hotel for details before arriving. Carneros Bistro and Wine Bar is next to the lobby, featuring local wines and cuisine with a Mediterranean twist.

Best Western Sonoma Valley Inn

• The Best Western Sonoma Valley Inn allows two pets per room for an additional fee. The hotel also has a Spa Gratitude for guests to enjoy a facial or message. A continental breakfast, access to the indoor heated pool, steam room, fitness room and hot tub are a few of the hotel amenities. The rooms at the smoke-free facility include wireless Internet service, cable television and in-room safe deposit boxes. Three miles from the hotel are many of the areas wineries and just five miles away are two championship golf courses. Out the front doors are many fine dining facilities serving local wines and international cuisine. Jack London State Historic Park is also nearby, so pets have a place to roam through the countryside.

Casita Carneros

• Casita Carneros is a cottage rental located down a quiet street in Sonoma. The cottage has one bedroom and one bathroom but provides pets plenty of space to run around in the backyard. Napa Valley is only a 15-minute drive away. Rooms include a wet bar, microwave, refrigerator, flat panel TV, stereo, private telephone, cozy electric fireplace and free Internet access. The kitchen is stocked with food and wine, but guests will have to bring their own groceries if they plan on more than snacks. Outside the sliding glass doors is a patio with jacuzzi and swimming pool plus barbecue. There is no additional charge for the pets.
