Choose The Right School For Medical Transcriptionist Training
2009 has been a year of significant change for my husband and me. Prior to March of this year we lived alone in our 4 bedroom house, with only our two dogs to worry about. We spent our weekends at social events with friends or simply relaxing in our home. We had the liberty to leave town on a moments notice and would enjoy spontaneous weekend trips regularly. We had the freedom that most newly married couples enjoy, before starting a family. This suddenly changed when we decided to take guardianship of my 12 year old nephew and 10 year old niece. Due to financial hardship and an abusive stepfather, my niece and nephew were in need of a drastic change of environment and lifestyle. With no children of our own and a couple extra rooms to spare, my husband and I felt equipped to give the kids a stable, loving environment. Although I have been able to continue working full time, it has proven difficult to find enough time each day to devote to family, home, and work. Most days are hectic and many things are left undone. In an effort to find a way to balance my new family and work, I began looking for jobs in my field that would allow me to work part time or telecommute.
After months of searching, I decided I would need to learn a new skill in order to obtain the type of employment I was looking for. This is when I became interested in a career as a medical transcriptionist. Working out of my home is the main advantage I would enjoy as a medical transcriptionist. Because of the tremendous change the kids have recently undergone, I find it necessary to be in constant contact with them to ensure they are adjusting well. The flexibility that comes with being a medical transcriptionist will allow me to give my family the attention they need, while still contributing financially to our household. Additionally, I expect medical transcription to be a satisfying career. It is important to me that my job is intellectually stimulating and contributes to the advancement of a service or product. I am confident medical transcription will be challenging and purposeful. SN:0TG9Y2ESY
An added element to my story is my second career. After being awarded a dance scholarship to DeFore Foundation for the Arts I worked as a dancer in various companies and theaters for approximately 10 years. About 3 years ago I transitioned from theater to film; I now (occasionally) work as an actor in local films and commercials. I wish I had discovered medical transcription years ago! Had I done so, I would have had financial stability while starting my dance and acting career. When my family obligations changed, I questioned whether or not I would be able to continue working a day job and acting. I believe I can do so as a medical transcriptionist. I will no longer have to ask a boss for schedule adjustments or time off. I will be able to make my own schedule and finally find balance. I have chosen Future MT for medical transcriptionist training because of the competitive prices, live mentoring, and the authentic physician dictation described on the website. I feel the real life environments used in the course will set proper expectations for the job. Furthermore, Future MT is the only training course I found that offers financial assistance. This fosters a supportive learning environment from the start. I feel more comfortable investing my time and resources in a program such as this. My educational and career goals are simple. I would like to receive my MT education within the next year. Upon completion of training I plan to find long-term employment as a medical transcriptionist. With the help of Future MT I will be balancing family, acting, and work in no time.
