Acid Reflux Disease (ARD) can sometimes be a confusing illness because it can easily be confused with other ailments.
After reviewing a general list of acne reflux symptoms it is easy to see why.
These symptoms can include heartburn, hoarse voice, a bloated feeling, burping, a reoccurring cough, difficulty breathing, acidic taste in throat or mouth and a tightness or discomfort around the chest.
Naturally, many of these symptoms can be attributed to other ailments and even acid reflux sufferers are unlikely to have all these other symptoms.
This results in a great deal of confusion over whether an individual actually has ARD.
To help with this particular issue, here are a few questions to consider: 1.
Is their presence of heartburn?
Although the presence of heartburn does not mean that you have acid reflux, it is a fairly good reference point to determine if acid reflux is possible.

2.
Is the heartburn chronic or ongoing?
To really be able to distinguish a minor case of heart burn from one that shows signs of being caused by acid reflux disease, you need to determine how common an occurrence it is.
Unless the heartburn has been on-going for over two to three weeks, odds are it is not related to ARD.
However, if it has lasted for this length of time, this is a very strong indicator for a significant acid reflux symptom.
3.
Are any other acid reflux symptoms present?
If after you have determined that you have a chronic heartburn, it pays to see if you have any of the other symptoms from above.
Also, pay attention to whether the use of antacids or other over the counter medicine has helped eliminate the heartburn and other symptoms.
If not, the odds increase that ARD is the culprit and you really should visit your doctor to be tested.
However, even if the antacids help reduce the symptoms, it is a good idea to be tested.
4.
If these symptoms exist, discuss them with your doctor.
After doing your own diagnosis, schedule a time to meet with your doctor to discuss your symptoms.
Most likely, the doctor will want to perform an endoscopy to test and see if you have acid reflux disease.
Based on the results of this test, he can prescribe acid reflux medicine or potential recommend some home remedies for use.
By keeping this question checklist in mind, you can make a better determination if you truly have the acid reflux symptoms.
The results of using this guide may help save you a trip to the doctor or go to the doctor with a clear objective in mind.
