    • 1). Approach the transom of your boat while it rests securely on its trailer. Place the base of your hinged sensor against the bottom edge of the transom. Mark the transom through the retaining holes in the base of the sensor. Set the sensor aside and drill through those spots with the 3/8-inch bit on your drill. Apply a thick coat of marine silicone to the back of the sensor base with your caulk gun. Place the sensor against the transom, line up the holes in the boat with the holes in the base of the unit and attach the sensor to the transom with a rivet from your rivet gun through each hole.

    • 2). Drill a 3/8-inch hole through the top edge of the transom, well above the waterline. Replace the 3/8-inch bit in your drill with the 5/8-inch bit. Drill through the same hole in the transom with your 5/8-inch bit to widen the hole. Attach one end of the sensor line to the sensor as recommended by the manufacturer. Slide the free end of the sensor line through the 5/8-inch hole and pull the cable taut. Fill the hole with marine silicone. Run the sensor line around the inside of the hull of your boat, leaving the free end of the cable at the bow of the boat.

    • 3). Line up the base of your monitor in the middle of the top edge of the bow of your boat. Mark the retaining spots with the fine point marker and set the monitor aside. Switch the bits in your drill. Drill through the spots on the bow with the 3/8-inch bit. Cover the bottom of the base of the monitor with marine silicone using your caulk gun. Set the monitor into place on the bow. Align the holes in the base of the monitor with the holes you drilled in the hull. Attach the monitor to the boat with a rivet through each hole.

    • 4). Connect the free end of the sensor and the power lines to the monitor as recommended by the manufacturer. Run the power line along the inside of the hull of your boat, leaving the free end of the power line at the fuse box under the control panel on the bridge of the craft. Connect the power line to the fuse box as recommended by the manufacturer.

    • 5). Cover the sensor and power lines along the inside of the hull of your boat with a thick coat of marine silicone. Lay a strip of nylon cloth on top of the silicone and press it firmly against the cords. Trim the nylon cloth with your razor knife as necessary. Allow the silicone to cure for 24 hours before launching your boat.
