How to Replace the Ignition Switch in a 1998 Ford F-150
- 1). Insert the key for your F-150, and turn the ignition switch to the "Run" position without starting the truck.
- 2). Push a 1/8-inch drill bit into the hole beneath the ignition switch, and push upward until it depresses the ignition switch retaining pin.
- 3). Pull the ignition switch out of the steering column.
- 4). Insert your key into the new ignition switch, and set it to the "Run" position followed by pressing the retaining pin with your finger.
- 5). Push the ignition switch into the steering column until seated, and turn your key to the "Off" position.
- 6). Test the new ignition switch by starting your F-150.
