How to Use Foamcore
- 1). Determine the size you will need. Foamcore board comes in a wide range of heights and widths, but it is only produced in 1/16- and 3/16-inch thicknesses.
- 2). Trace the areas to be cut with a pencil. If the board is a light color, make the pencil marks as light as possible.
- 3). Cut the foamcore board with a utility or craft knife. The easiest method is to cut the layers separately, especially for the 3/16-inch size. A dull blade may tear the foam portion of the board; use the sharpest knife possible for a clean edge.
- 4). Decorate the foamcore. Craft paint can be applied with a roller or a paintbrush. Other decorations, like glitter or cut-out shapes, can be added with adhesive. If there are pieces that need to be assembled, use adhesives that are not water-based.
- 5). If you have painted or decorated your board, allow sufficient time to dry before handling (usually overnight).
