Though my family didn't have any cats while I was growing up, I had always loved black cats in particular. My first experience with a black cat was a female that lived in an art store; she was a very sweet and personable cat. When I turned 19, my parents brought home a 3 week old black kitten- Nigel, who I hand raised. That's really when the attachment for black cats set in. Since then I have had a hand in raising another black kitten (Caterina, who my father found in a garbage can), and now I am the proud owner of Opal, who is very attached to me.
