How to Replace the Belt on a 36 Inch Mower Deck
- 1). Disengage the blade clutch via the clutch lever on the handle of the mower.
- 2). Tilt the mower back onto its handle so you can work under the mower deck.
- 3). Pull the drive belt for the mower blade off the drive pulley. The mower blade drive belt is the longer belt connected to the pulley.
- 4). Loosen the lock nut on the idler pulley and then slide the idler pulley away from the drive belt for the transmission.
- 5). Remove the old transmission belt and then place the new belt onto the pulleys. Make sure the belt routes around the idler pulley just as the old belt did.
- 6). Push the idler pulley against the belt and then tighten it with the lock nut and wrench.
- 7). Place the drive belt for the mower blade back onto the drive pulley.
