Being that this is a concept album about Viking life in Greenland, it would be reasonable to assume that Teeth Of The Hydra are some sort of Scandinavian folk metal style band. But they are from the USA (Ohio to be exact) and the minute you pop in Greenland you'll hear something completely different than folk metal.

Between the music and the lyrics perhaps Viking stoner sludge doom metal would be a better description.

The songs are mostly slow and mid tempo with distorted guitars and in addition to the aforementioned styles they also delve into psychedelia and even '70s southern rock. They are influenced by everyone from Black Sabbath to Corrosion Of Conformity to High On Fire to the Melvins.

This is a heavy album with somewhat of a retro vibe, and although some of the songs drag on a bit too long and the production isn't the best, in the end sludge and doom fans will find a lot of things to like about Teeth Of The Hydra.
