How to Replace a Lug-Nut Stud in a Ford Ranger
- 1). Raise the vehicle and support it with jack stands placed under the frame or axle.
- 2). Remove the wheel and tire.
- 3). Remove the brake drum by pulling it off the lug-nut studs.
- 4). Use a lug-nut stud removal tool (T74P-3044-A1) to press the stud from its hole in the hub.
- 1). Examine the stud hole in the hub. There will be groves left by the old stud.
- 2). Insert the new lug stud into the hole. Align the grooves on the base of the stud with the grooves in the hole.
- 3). Place four flat washers over the stud.
- 4). Thread a lug nut onto the new stud.
- 5). Tighten the lug nut until the new stud is completely seated in the hole.
- 6). Reinstall the wheel and tire.
- 7). Lower the vehicle.
