All of us want to save money on our heating bills and there are a myriad of ways to do this: * Install Double Glazing * Updating our boiler and radiators * Improve our insulation * Insulate walls However, many of these methods of fairly expensive.
And while you will eventually get a return on your investment it could take several years for the fuel bill savings to out weigh the costs of installing double glazing, insulation or a new boiler - and that is if we have the funds in the first place.
But there are more cost-effective methods of reducing bills and getting more heat for our money from out existing heating system.
Radiator Panels and Foil Radiator panels and foil are an ingenious solution to perhaps the biggest drawback in using radiators to provide our heat.
Radiators, to save space, are usually installed lying flat against a wall, maybe two to three inches away.
However, what this means is that all the heat radiating from the back of the radiator is lost - soaked up by the wall behind.
By reflecting this heat back towards the room, you can effectively boost the power output of your radiators, allowing you to turn the thermostat down, and remain just as warm.
And this is what radiator foil and panels do.
These clever devices are easily stuck to wall behind the radiators, usually attached with double sided tape.
These reflective panels and foil then reflect the infra-red energy (heat) that is radiated out from the radiator.
Because they are made from a highly reflective material, this heat bounces back into the room, adding to the heat that is already radiating from the front of the radiator facing into the room.
Radiator panels are simple, cheap and effective.
By using them this winter you could save 25% to 30% of your heating bills, which in most cases will more than account for the cost of the radiator panels or foil.
