During the time he worked as president of Valley State Bank from October 2001 until March 2005, Sorrells issued official bank checks to pay personal bills and make deposits to his personal account. According to court records, Sorrells stole $171,913 from the bank.

The Conviction:

Sorrells pleaded guilty to bank theft in June 2009.

The Sentence:

U.S. District Judge R. David Proctor sentenced Sorrells to 10 months in prison followed by three years supervised release.
