Guided Snow Goose Hunting in Virginia
- Guides operate for-profit businesses of assisting hunters who want to take snow geese in the wetlands of Virginia. These guides may take you hunting on private or public land. A guided hunt is not a guarantee of success, but skilled guides will get you in position for the best shot.
- You can only hunt snow geese in Virginia during the light goose season. This season runs all the way from early October to the end of January. There is an additional chance to hunt snow goose during the light goose conservation order season, which takes place during February and March in the eastern, coastal third of the state. Guides don't always lead hunts for the entire season.
- To participate in a guided snow goose hunt in Virginia, you must have a valid Virginia hunting license as well as a Virginia Migratory Waterfowl Conservation Stamp. On public lands, there is a bag limit of 25 geese during the regular light goose season and no bag limit during the light goose conservation order season. However, a guide or outfitter may establish a smaller bag limit if their hunts are on private land.
