Map Your Trip

• 1). Purchase campground directories that cover each state where you wish to travel. These directories will list all state and local parks that offer camping, campsite fees, and what type of recreation is available. Some parks will have only basic campsites, and others may have pools, game rooms and daily activities for your family to enjoy.
  
  
• 2). Purchase maps for each state to map out your route. Use a highlighter to track the roads you want to travel for easy reference while driving.
  
  
• 3). Mark each campground you wish to stop at on your maps. Using highlighters of different colors will make this easy to reference while traveling.
  
  

Supplies

• 1). Make a list of all food, first aid supplies and any medication you will need while traveling. Personal items such as toothbrushes, soap and razors should also be on your list. Remember to include linens, paper goods and any entertainment items you might want to use while on your trip.
  
  
• 2). Purchase or gather the necessary supplies on your list and stock your camper. All items must be secured in cabinets or under seats to ensure that they don't fall while you are driving.
  
  
• 3). Include emergency supplies such as flashlights, a battery-powered radio, extra batteries and a roadside emergency kit. Because you may not be staying in a campsite with water or electricity, it's a good idea to have a sufficient supply of water on hand, along with lanterns or other battery-powered lights.
  
  
• 4). Decide how you are going to pay for campsites, gas and tolls along your trip. Cash, debit or credit cards and traveler's checks should be kept in a secure place.
