What Is Recycling, Why Do We Do It and What Can I Recycle?
I believe that lots of people still do not understand why we recycle so I've decided to write the following piece to inform you and let you know why it's so very important to recycle your waste.
I hope you find this informative.
On average each household in the United Kingdom produces 1 tonne of waste each year which is a staggering amount.
This equates to around 30 million tonnes a year in the United Kingdom, this is the equivalent to 4.
85 million male elephants.
Along with this shocking piece of information this amount of waste is increasing year on year for many reasons such as new packaging materials being produced, people purchasing a greater amount of goods due to increase of affluence.
An increase in population and a change in diet from many people in regards to fast food and the packaging.
If you compare the rubbish we have in comparison to those 50 years ago we now have rubbish with a higher percentage of material which will not break down when they are put into landfills.
Over 25% of this rubbish could be recycled which is a lot better than it staying in landfills where it will not break down.
It's vital that we begin to recycle these products as we cannot keep burning and throwing rubbish into landfills.
If you wish to help in the recycling push I've recommend doing the following- • Sell mobile phones- recycling handsets with organisations will help recycling the materials.
• Consider what's going into your bin and collect all things that can be recycled and put in designated bins.
• Build more plants to recycle in • We need to make sure that there are enough rubbish trucks to collect our plastics, cans, cardboard etc.
• We need to consider how we can reuse products.
Did you know that an aluminium can, can generate enough energy to keep a TV running for 3 hours and some plastic bottles are recycled and used in fleece jackets.
There are many things you can recycle, it's all about knowing what doesn't need to go in the bin and what can go on to lead further lives.
The following can be recycled.
1.
Light Bulbs 2.
Batteries 3.
Electricals such as sell phones for cash or computers,MP3 Players 4.
Plastic 5.
Tin 6.
Cardboard 7.
Newspaper 8.
Glass You don't have to drive somewhere to dispose of these you'll often find you can get a curb side collection you just need to contact your local council.
I hope you find this informative.
