How to Hook a Freshwater Shrimp
- 1). Insert the point of the hook into the underside of the whole shrimp just below the head. For live shrimp, push the hook barb through the top of the shrimp near the head. Avoid piercing through the black spot on the shrimp, which will kill it instantly.
- 2). Push a whole, dead shrimp onto the barb and around the shank of the hook. The curve of the hook follows the natural curve of the shrimp's body.
- 3). Slide the eye of the hook against the underside of the shrimp so that the barb barely protrudes from the shrimp near the tail. This bait is now ready for fishing.
- 4). Cut shrimp into chunks and thread each piece onto the hook until the barb is covered with bait. Use this chunk technique when water visibility is poor.
