Don"t Play Small: Implement!
I've been working really hard not to play small in my business.
Even though I provide a support role to many of my clients, it is an important role, and one I really love.
I'm pushing myself - and my clients to leave old habits of "playing small" in our businesses behind.
Having given this much thought recently, I recognized that when we do "play small" it keeps us from implementing.
Specifically, there are three important attributes that are boosted for us when we work at our full potential - and especially when we recognize the value in what we're doing.
All of them play an important role in implementation.
1.
Confidence No matter what our business pursuit is, each of us changes the world with it in our own way.
When we recognize the importance of what we are bringing to the world, and force ourselves to share it with others in the best, largest and most recognizable way we possibly can, it boosts our confidence.
Each of us plays a role in making our lives and the lives of others bigger and better, but if we hide what we have to offer by "playing small," we not only stop implementing, but we keep the best of ourselves hidden.
No matter what you are doing in your business, focus on how it impacts the world - not just the next person who buys from you.
It will build your confidence and help you to stay on track with implementing your purpose.
2.
Commitment When we are "playing small," it is easier to let go of our commitment to sharing our gifts and talents.
If we are in a state of believing that what we are doing is not important, we can very easily prioritize something else.
TV, video games, housework, or even dirty dishes take the place of our sharing our gifts because we don't recognize the value of what we have to offer.
But when we stop playing small, it is much easier to be committed to sharing ourselves.
When we see the big picture, the lives we will change, instead of the $30 or $50 sale, we have a renewed commitment to reaching our audience and sharing our gifts with them.
3.
Creativity None of us spends much time thinking creatively about things we don't give importance to! Conversely, when we believe in what we are doing and we know in our hearts it can help change the experience of those around us for the better, we bring more creativity to it.
That creativity may come in many forms: changes in our offering, changes in the timing of it, a new system for providing it, a new solution to an old problem.
If our focus is on what our offering is doing for the world, we are able to be extremely creative with how we deliver it.
Playing small drags down our confidence, our commitment and our creativity.
Instead, step into your purpose, believe in yourself, believe in your business, believe in what you are bringing to the world.
You will be more successful and you will implement more.
