Natural Mold Mildew Removal
- Natural mold removal products include white vinegar, borax, baking soda and tea tree oil. Borax is the strongest one of these natural solutions. It is also toxic if ingested. Tea tree oil is a natural essential oil that has the ability to disinfect. White vinegar is a mild acidic solution that disinfects surfaces and will remove mold spores. Baking soda will absorb bad odors associated with mold growth.
- Mix a solution of the product and water. In the case of baking soda, add just enough water to make a thick paste. Rub the paste over hardened mold stains. Also, sprinkle the baking soda over the musty smell area and let it sit for several hours. Use pure white vinegar, as it is gentle enough that it will not harm most surfaces.
- No matter how often you clean mold or mildew growth, it will continue to grow back unless you fix the moisture issue in your home. You can do this by fixing your ventilation system, installing a better one or by putting a dehumidifier in your home.
- Mold and mildew tend to grow in areas with excess moisture. This means that mold will tend to grow in your bathrooms, basements or laundry rooms. Mold will also grow in areas that don't have a lot of ventilation such as attics, basements and crawlspaces.
