How to Use a Windows XP Tablet

6
    • 1). Slide the power switch to turn your tablet PC on. The location of this will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, but it's usually along the edge of the tablet. Wait for Windows XP to load.

    • 2). Tap the red "X" in the upper corner of the Tutorials window with the tip of your pen. Use the pen just like a mouse cursor, tapping on the screen instead of clicking to open menus and icons. This special pen is the only object that can interact with the tablet screen, so be sure not to lose it.

    • 3). Tap the pen-and-paper icon just to the right of the "Start" button at the bottom of your screen to open the tablet PC Input Panel. You can write, freehand, in this panel, and Windows XP will automatically convert it to text for you.

    • 4). Tap, sequentially, on "Start" > "All Programs" > "Accessories" > "WordPad" to launch the Windows text editor. Make sure the cursor is blinking in WordPad, and then begin writing in the Input Panel. Your handwriting will be converted to text in real time and entered into WordPad for you. Tap the "Send" button at the bottom of the Input Panel and select "Send as Ink" to enter your actual handwriting, rather than converted text, into WordPad.
