Causes of Anxiety Attacks
If doctors knew what caused anxiety attacks, about 5 million people would not have to suffer everyday.
All doctors and researchers can provide us with are theories.
Which in retrospect is better than nothing! Many doctors believe the cause of anxiety attacks is a chemical imbalance in the brain.
The brain sends messages by way of neurotransmitters.
The brain depends on three chemicals Serotonin, Dopamine, and Norephinephine for the messages to get from one part of the brain to the part it needs to get to.
If one or all of these three chemicals is lacking in the amount that the brain is producing then we have a chemical imbalance and medications are used to increase the amount of the chemical.
Of all three of the chemicals, research shows that the chemical Serotonin is the one that is most closely related to balancing and calming the mind.
The two important thing that the mind needs to steer clear of an anxiety attack.
On a more non medical level, anxiety attacks can be triggered by stress.
When the body and mind "collect" stress it manifests its self into emotional and physical symptoms which are the result of anxiety.
Childhood and even adulthood events that were traumatic will trigger an anxiety attack if the person is reminded on a subconscious level of the event(s).
For example is you were a victim of child abuse and you see a mother or father spanking their child, those memories of your own childhood abuse could come rushing back in the form of an anxiety attack.
The same is true if you or someone you loved were severely injured or even killed in a car accident (even if it was 30 years ago) seeing a very bad accident can trigger those memories and cause them to resurface as an anxiety attack.
What most people don't realize is that our subconscious can easily be compared to a garbage disposal.
We just keep shoving the "garbage in" and eventually it will over flow.
When it over flows we have an anxiety attack.
Flip the switch on your garbage disposal every now and then either by journaling, talking to a professional or someone you can easily talk to.
We all need an outlet for our "garbage" as long as we choose a healthy method then anxiety attacks should be kept at bay or at least to a minimum.
