The Truth About Organic Skin Care - Does "Organic" Really Matter?

14
There is a lot of talk about going organic these days, not only with the food you eat but with organic skin care products as well. The question is whether "organic" products are just the newest fad designed by manufacturers to sell more expensive products, or if there really is something special about products that are made with more natural ingredients.

When you get down to the real facts, the big difference between organic skin care products and inorganic products is the ingredient list. Organic products will include more natural active ingredients, or will at least strive to get the best ingredients in their most natural form.

So, why would anyone want to pay more for an organic product with natural base ingredients, when they can pay half the price or even less for a product that uses synthetic versions of those same ingredients?

It might not seem like it would matter if you are getting an ingredient through its natural form or some synthetic version that is cheaper for manufacturers to purchase in bulk, but there are three reasons that it really does make a huge difference to the health of your skin!

The natural ingredients used in organic skin care products are often absorbed into your skin much more readily than most synthetic or chemical based ingredients. In fact, some ingredients commonly used in inorganic products are very difficult to absorb through the skin, so they produce very little if any results.

Also, your skin is not at as much risk for damage when you go with organic products. Most people have tried skin care products that have dried out their skin or produced more acne rather than getting rid of it, and unnatural ingredients not meant for direct absorption into the skin is often the cause.

There is also a reduced risk of allergic reactions with organic products since many natural ingredients are very similar to natural components already in the body. In some cases, they may be so natural that they in fact already exist inside your body.

Bottom line, organic ingredients are just as beneficial to your skin as similar inorganic ingredients, but they present less risk of damage to your skin.

Asking whether the organic ingredients in organic skin care products really make a difference is like asking whether eating a salad for dinner rather than a greasy cheeseburger will really make a difference when you step on the scale tomorrow morning. Of course it matters!
