  Houston is located 50 miles northwest of the port town of Galveston, Texas, where two major cruise lines make calls. In 2008, following the destruction of Galveston by Hurricane Ike, the Houston Bayport Cruise Terminal serviced Carnival Cruise ships for more than a month. Seven-Day Eastern Caribbean

• Carnival Cruise offers a seven-day round trip voyage through the eastern Caribbean originating in Galveston, Texas. The cruise includes three days at sea, two stops in the Bahamas and a visit to Key West, Florida. Sailing on the Carnival Conquest, guests have an option of four different staterooms: interior, ocean view and balcony cabins, as well as suites. Basic amenities include bathrobes, hairdryers and televisions, while suites also offer whirlpool bathtubs and a vanity dressing table. All guests have access to 24-hour room service.

Seven-Day Western Caribbean

• The Carnival line also plays host to a seven-day western Caribbean cruise featuring stops in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands; Montego Bay, Jamaica; and Cozumel, Mexico. The cruise begins and ends in Galveston. Passengers travel aboard the Carnival Conquest, which offers a variety of entertainment options, including a casino, karaoke, a show lounge, a theater, an arcade for children and a swimming pool equipped with a water slide. The ship's dining options include a steakhouse, two large dining rooms, a sushi bar, a pizzeria, a coffee house and a piano bar.

14-Night Transatlantic Eastbound Cruise

• Passengers may sail from Galveston to Barcelona, Spain, on a 14-night transatlantic cruise offered by Royal Caribbean. After eight consecutive days at sea, the ship finally makes a stop at the Portuguese islands of Azores, before docking at the Spanish port towns of Malaga and Cartagena. The Voyager of the Seas vessel holds just over 3,000 passengers in accommodations such as cabins outfitted with balconies and deluxe suites. Guests may stay active while on board by utilizing such perks as an ice skating rink, a rock climbing wall, a nine-hole miniature golf course and basketball courts.
